As the school year is coming to a close, there has been talk going around that the Class of 2021 will be having an in-person graduation at Cam High, as well as other senior activities. As teachers are coming back to school, and more and more students are attending hybrid distance learning, the staff and administration at Cam High is making sure that the Class of 2021 will be able to safely celebrate their final year of high school.

On Wednesday, April 28th, Ms. Lori Pristera, English teacher and ASB Director at Cam High, hosted a Google Meet for the seniors to talk about the events that they would get to enjoy for their last year.

One of the first events that has already taken place is the Movie Night on the field, during which Cam High seniors came with masks and blankets to enjoy a movie night with their friends. Social distancing was enforced, drinks were provided, and overall, it went smoothly.

The next date seniors should mark in their calendars is May 14th. From 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, seniors can drive through the upper parking lot of the school and pick up their caps and gowns for graduation day. It is asked that seniors do their best to come at this time or have someone else come for them to pick these up. It is imperative that graduates have the right attire to wear for graduating.

A commonly asked question during last April’s Google Meet was whether students would be allowed to decorate their graduation caps. The answer is yes, but with some limitations. Seniors are not permitted to add things that are three-dimensional, crude, or offensive. An example of something that is acceptable to place on the cap is where a student intends to go to college. A Google Doc with more detailed information and specific guidelines will be sent out to all seniors.

This school year, seniors will not be having a prom, but there will be a senior formal event titled Ever After. The event will take place at Cam High, on May 22nd, from 7-11 PM. Dinner will be served there with vegetarian and vegan options included. Some other things included at this event will be arcade games, photo opportunities(Monarch Photography will be at the event), and a magician. Tickets will be going on sale this week, with prices estimated to be from $60-$85. Ever After is exclusive to Cam High seniors. Guests from outside the school are not permitted in order to maintain a Covid-safe environment. Tables at the event will sit up to eight people each, so if there are plans being made to go with friends, make sure that groups are figured out ahead of time.

The most important event, graduation, will be held on June 15th, starting at 4 PM. Graduates are allowed to bring a total of four guests with them, and the event will be live streamed for anyone else to watch. Seniors will be able to purchase their tickets on gofan.co by logging into the website with their school email. There will be graduation practice per usual, and attending these practices is mandatory. The first practice will be on June 11th, and the time will either be from 9 AM to 12 PM, or 4 PM to 6 PM. The second practice is on June 14th, from 9 AM to 12 PM.

More detailed information about upcoming senior events will be sent out to seniors as the school year comes closer and closer to the end. Make sure to keep an eye out for important updates on the @achsseniors2021 Instagram account as well as the Class of 2021 Google Classroom (join code: 4PSVULW).
