Cam High Girl’s Volleyball

As Cam High’s volleyball team wins league championships for Camarillo High School, the newly founded beach volleyball arises for their season. The head coach leading this new beach volleyball team is Dani Helland, an alumna also from Adolfo Camarillo High School. At Cam High, she played volleyball throughout high school. Coach Dani went on to attend and graduate from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City Iowa, where she played for yet another four years as a setter in college ball. Coach Dani has been coaching volleyball for over 6 years now. Regarding her former and current involvement in volleyball, Dani stated, “I would compete in tournaments on the weekends up in Manhattan Beach as well as Hermosa beach. I went to a high-performance beach camp but now I play just for fun!”

This weekend will be the first tournament of the season. The beach volleyball team will be playing at Ventura Harbor beach at the sand volleyball courts. Here they will be playing from 9 am to 2 pm. In total the team consists of 16 teammates. The 15 teammates are Bella T, Carson S, Christa C, Chyanne B, Kennedy W, Kiera F, Kylie B, Layla B, Lexi B, Maya G, Melanie D, Mia W, Samatha R, Sarah A, and Mackenzie A.  The seniors from Varsity gym volleyball that are joining beach volleyball are Maya G, Sarah A and the juniors that are on varsity are Kylie B, Lexi B, Layla B, Samantha R, and Kiera F. Sarah has been playing volleyball for over 8 years and she’s very excited about this new program.

Sarah’s excitement for the team is reflected in the other members of well. With a roster of already accomplished players, there is certainly a great future for beach volleyball at Cam High.
